Lake House Engagement Dinner

A beautiful day and an engagement dinner

We were inspired to create this engagement dinner spread especially for our photographer Cori and her now fiance (and my brother) Erik. He chose a casual, breathtaking scenic overlook on their drive North to Willow, Alaska to their family cabin to pop the question. Afterward, Erik invited twelve family and friends to join in the celebration after he popped the question (she said yes!). We’ve all been spending weekends there over the past year, so coming together there with friends and family to celebrate feels natural. The whole event is infused with love and thoughtful touches. We are so excited to be able to share these beautiful images.

Sapphires as green as her eyes

Erik chose an organic, cast-not-set gold eternity band from Polly Wales studded with pastel green sapphires that match the green in Cori’s eyes. We pulled inspiration from the ring to create the florals and choose complimenting linens and place settings. A simple natural woven runner echoes the woven pendant hanging above. The table is grounded by a wool pinstripe Pendleton tablecloth.  It all comes together to create a lush, green, happy table for the lovers and their friends.

A celebratory table

Setting a flower filled dinner for an engagement dinner, like a micro wedding reception, brings a sense of romance, natural elegance and interest to the event. Flowers have a way of marking important events in our lives and the feeling of bringing people together.

We love how this table is set in a light nordic style setting and paired with whimsical vintage Danish chairs and bench. This lightness paired with more moody linens and lush silk ribbons this creates a look that is both fresh and lived in, modern and timeless. The floral and greenery filled runner is made up of a variety of vessels. They all reflect the tones in Cori’s unique engagement ring. Both votive and taper candles kept the group of friends lingering over the celebratory table late into the evening.
