An Intimate Eklutna Lake Micro Wedding

Alaska provided a nearly impossibly lovely September afternoon for this heartfelt day. Kelly and Jason approached their Eklutna Lake wedding in Alaska with enthusiasm, openness, and joy. Describing how lovely this day was is a challenge. We left feeling deep gratitude for this couple, their vision for their day, and how beautifully they celebrated each other. The golden light that peeked through the clouds after a light shower during their picnic was just icing on the (chocolate) cake.

Eklutna Lake was the ideal location to host Kelly and Jason’s ceremony and picnic with their closest family members. Coming from rural Texas, they were looking for an Alaskan wilderness wedding. They wanted their focus to be on their love and envisioned themselves surrounded by beauty of mountains and water.

Eklutna Lake Wedding

We take care to document details during elopements and weddings so our couples can remember the little pieces that went into making their days complete– and also tell friends and family the story of their fall elopement in Alaska from afar. This hand painted custom flatlay backdrop highlights Kelly’s hand embroidered yellow shoes, jewelry, and Jason’s printed yeti socks. We bring along extra flowers to style, commemorating thoughtful details and giving a cohesive look to our couples’ photo gallery.

Kelly and Jason shared a stunning, private first look on the rocky beach of Eklutna lake. It gave them a moment to connect before their family joined them on the beach for their ceremony.

After their ceremony, Kelly and Jason relaxed with family over a beautiful fall table scape, taking in the scenery. They enjoy their time together nibbling on cheese, charcuterie, fruit and chocolate cake. Kelly and Jason described their style as vintage and causal, and that was front of our minds when designing. The dynamic design included sweet, simple gingham napkins, vintage charcuterie board, tonal florals, and clean modern touches in keeping with their style.

Kelly wished for florals with colors pulled from the surroundings, with hints of yellow to complement her custom floral embroidered yellow converse sneakers and Jason’s yellow tie. Alaska grown dahlias and California grown honey dijon roses were the foundation of this earthy, natural yet refined floral design, and we pulled in delicate clematis and meadow rue foliage to round out each floral element. Each element was carefully selected for texture, color, movement, all contributing to the story and photos from their Eklutna Lake wedding.
