Alaska Vow Renewal in the Mountains
This beautiful couple has roots in Alaska from living here shortly after their engagement. They developed strong friendships here and knew they wanted to return for a celebration. They came back years later to have an intimate vow renewal in the mountains of Alaska followed by a celebratory picnic with their friends! This Alaska vow renewal has a romantic, blustery start in the mountains of Alaska, where our couple awoke the morning of their event.
Both Megan and James wanted their vow renewal day to feel like a day they want to “live in forever.” The rain we saw in the forecast came falling down and lends a dynamic, romantic feel to the photos. The muted light and the connection between Megan and James is captured so beautifully in these images. We imagine Megan and James looking back on images and video from their vow renewal for years to come. We keep coming back to the video from their day ourselves! The raindrops falling from the umbrella and tender moments between M & J get us all teary… It’s so beautiful and full of feeling, and the way the breeze catches Megan’s dress is breathtaking.
After their vow exchange, Megan and James welcomed friends for a celebratory meal. As an alternative to dining outside under a tent on this rainy day, Megan and James opted for an indoor studio back-up option. This intimate space served as a perfect venue for their formal sit down picnic with friends. Sometimes the magic happens in these unexpected turns! The studio setting is a cozy, candlelit venue for the group to celebrate. During the meal, friends shared a blessing, toasts, stories, and afterwards Megan and James danced to a classic Frank Sinatra song for their first dance.
An interior designer, Megan has a strong aesthetic sense and shared photos to convey ideas she had for the table design. We incorporated these into the tablescape to reflect Megan and James’ style. We sourced fluffy white Alaska grown peonies (Megan’s favorite!), and sprinkled flowers throughout the table and around the studio for their meal. Textural elements like indigo twine napkin holders, botanically hand dyed napkins and sleek taper candles bring the whole look together and add dimension.
