Alaska Glacier Wedding Inspiration

This shoot was a celebration of our very own Erin’s anniversary with her husband, Phillip. The Matanuska Glacier is an incredible setting for this colorful, modern style that translates so well to an Alaska glacier wedding style. The multilayered tulle gown from Milia London set the tone for the day, it brings a whimsical, textural, modern feel to the photos. We love Alaska glacier weddings and there are myriad locations around Alaska to bring a look like this to life!

The Matanuska glacier can be accessed by helicopter or by snowmobile, and is close to the road system, making it one of the more accessible glaciers in the area. For this lovely day, we drove, snowmobiled (or snow machined as most Alaska-born folks say), then did some hiking to get to the ice cave pictured. Footwear under a long gown like this one does not even need to coordinate with the outfit! This gown is hiding some practical Xtra-Tuff insulated rainboots with ice cleats, making hiking on the glacier doable. For part of the journey the dress was carried along in a garment bag to make walking easier, with an overcoat thrown on for coverage.

This layered tablescape echoes the dusty blues and rugged dark grey of glacial silt.
