When Karissa and Dominic reached out to us, they knew exactly the kind of day they were after. “We want it to feel relaxed, comfortable, and romantic,” they shared, “but not overly cheesy!” They wanted something that felt genuinely like them, not a performance, just a beautiful, unhurried day to celebrate where they are now as a couple. Hatcher Pass in the fall was the perfect fit.
We headed up mid-afternoon, when the tundra was at its peak color, all rich golds, deep rusts, and that beautiful muted purple that sweeps across the hillsides in September. Karissa was stunning in a long white dress paired with a cozy cardigan, brown hiking boots, and a blue ribbon in her hair. Dominic wore an olive suit with a cream linen button-up and matching boots. Their sweet pups joined them for the day too, which made for some of the most joyful and fun moments to capture.
Karissa and Dominic wrote their own vows and chose a quiet spot out on the open tundra for their ceremony. It was simple and personal, just the two of them, their dogs, and the gorgeous mountain pass spread out behind them. Watching them read their words to each other was a really beautiful thing to be present for.
Afterward, they celebrated in the most perfectly them way: pizza and hot chocolates at a picnic table with that stunning Hatcher Pass backdrop. Pizza night is a weekly tradition for them at home, so bringing it up into the mountains felt right and personal. There was so much laughter and zero agenda, which is honestly our favorite kind of afternoon.
To close out the day, they settled into the Happy Cabin together, their pups curled up close while the warm afternoon light filled the space. It was cozy and calm, and we loved focusing on all the small details: the rings, the bouquet we designed in tans, greens, marigold, and soft purple to complement the fall landscape, and all the quiet in-between moments that show just how comfortable and happy these two are together.
We took care of the planning, florals, and photography for the full day, and Karissa and Dominic brought the fun. It was such a good one.
