These two sweethearts shared their first kiss after a stargazing class and walk around campus… two years later, James proposed to Catherine in the same spot. 30 years later, they shared another kiss after exchanging vows and strolling through Denali National Park for their Alaskan vow renewal. Their enduring love for each other and the sweet moments they shared during this beautiful afternoon in Denali were a delight to witness, we can only imagine all the joyful times they will share in the years to come.
Catherine was able to rework her original wedding gown from 30 years ago to suit their Denali adventure- she laughed as she recounted how she had the dress across her lap with seams torn when James walked in and asked if she was sure she wanted to. She responded, “it’s too late now!” They were kind to show us a photo of their original church wedding portrait, featuring Catherine in her floor length gown with puff sleeves, sweeping train and lace appliqué, James in his tux and bow tie.
Catherine wished for locally grown, in season flowers for their Alaskan vow renewal and loves pinks and whites, and stargazer lilies. We selected the locally grown tulips in her bouquet for their full shape and coloring, echoing that of the stargazer lily.
They followed their Alaskan vow exchange with dancing to their favorite song, then settled in for a picnic of delicious cheese, fruit, nuts, and crackers the river nearby. What a memorable, beautiful way to celebrate 30 years together and also punctuate and document their Alaskan travels.
Afterwards we took a walk through the meandering trail back to the parking area and drove a short distance to a gorgeous overlook for more photographs.
We are so glad that these two decided to travel all the way up from Florida for their Alaskan vow renewal, and honored that they chose us to plan, style and document this momentous occasion. Thank you!
