The Add-Ons

Where are you based?
We're based in Anchorage, Alaska but also spend time in Girdwood and Willow, two small towns nearby. We love to explore all areas of the state with our couples!

What does full service planning include?
We started Outland Events because we saw a need to provide couples with a high-end planning service. Alaska is a large state and can be overwhelming if you're unfamiliar with it! That's where we step in to help. Both lifelong Alaskans, we help with everything from location scouting, assisting you with the marriage paperwork, suggesting and coordinating vendors for your day, helping you decide what you'll both wear, creating an overall design for the day that is a reflection of you, outlining a relaxed timeline, making suggestions for your travel itinerary and lodging, and being your cheerleaders, confidants, stylists, and new friends. Each elopement is created from our hearts and it's incredibly fulfilling to watch our couples experience a day that exceeds their expectations.

How many guests can we bring?
We consider an elopement to be the two of you and a very small number of guests, typically 2-6. Anything beyond that tends to be a micro-wedding (especially if there is a meal), which we are also happy to help plan.

Can we bring our dog(s)?
Yes! We have two pups of our own and absolutely love when you bring your pups along, they are family after all!

What time of year should we elope?
We've done everything from winter solstice to hot summer days. For a winter elopement we suggest Nov, Dec, Jan, or March. For a summer elopement we suggest June, July, or August. Mid-June through July is best for the icy blue pools on glaciers. For a fall elopement, September and October can be beautiful - just know there's a higher chance of rain and cooler temps. The bonus is that the tourist season has died down by then and it can be a great time of year to experience Alaska.

Will you help us figure out where we should elope?
We love helping couples figure out the perfect spot, whether that's up in Denali National Park, out at a private lodge, or on a glacier via helicopter. We've been all around the state from the furthest town south to Nome. We'll find a stunning place that feels unique to you and that start to your marriage.

Are travel fees included?
Most locations within an 1.5 hr driving radius of Anchorage do not require a travel fee. If the location you choose requires more driving time, a flight, overnight lodging, or other transportation, the travel expenses will be discussed ahead of time and charged at cost. There are never any hidden surprises - we keep things as simple as possible!

Do you help with the marriage paperwork?
After booking we help with everything, this included! There are a few particulars that the state of Alaska requires, but it's very easy and we'll walk you through it. We can even drop off the paperwork after your elopement so you don't have to worry about taking it on any further adventures!

What's the difference between a symbolic and legal ceremony?
Your legal ceremony is whenever you sign the actual marriage certificate. If you want to do this during your elopement, you'll need an officiant and 2 witnesses (Erin and Cori are often witnesses for their couples). Some people choose to do the paperwork in a courthouse, their hometown, or even with family privately, and are just looking to have a private ceremony and vows just the two of them somewhere beautiful. This is a symbolic ceremony. We've been a part of both and are happy to make suggestions if you're on the fence about which is right for you.

What does the photography coverage include?
The photography coverage with Cori includes all the full resolution files, her time fully editing each and every image given, an online gallery for sharing with loved ones, optional print and album ordering, a sneak peek within 1 week of your event, and behind the scenes iphone videos shared the same day.

What makes you different from other planners?
We are both from Alaska and know the state inside and out. There are so many details to take into account while planning an elopement - from what roads are closed until when, what areas will be full of bugs at certain times of the year, what trails are too packed with people, what to do if you encounter wildlife, how to dress for different times of the year, and most importantly  which vendors to trust. We also bring a fresh, modern style that's current with the rest of the world, something Alaska usually (endearingly) lacks! And, after a decade of documenting high-end destination weddings around the world, Cori understands what it takes behind the scenes for a day to run smoothly and feel natural for the couple - thinking of all the little things she's seen others miss. With the blend of our experience, knowledge of Alaska, and heart that we put into each event, you can fully trust us with your day.

We'd love for you to help us plan our elopement, but we're not sure where exactly in Alaska yet! What now?
To give each of our couples the full attention they deserve, we ask that you reserve our services before we help you plan. Through phone chats and questionnaires we'll figure out the perfect day together! To book there's a signed agreement and a 50% non-refundable retainer that secures your date in our calendar.
